Slightly further away, you will find Sarlat-la Canéda – a magnificent medieval town and the capital of the Périgord Noir region. It has picturesque narrow streets, hidden courtyards and beautiful architecture. Spend the morning at the market and then unwind over a long lunch-there are many great bars and restaurants offering a wide variety of regional dishes and wine.
Sarlat also hosts an eclectic selection of music and theatre festivals during the summer months.
